Training film for a Bundeswehr Recon unit.,

For some inspiration for the my project a training video with Bundeswehr M41's

Note the camouflage pattern on the tankers uniforms.  This would disappear from use around the 1960 time frame.

Bundeswehr M41 finished

Ready for inspection my 60's M41 for Bundeswehr project.  These are the battlefront models.  Not bad but the only ones I could get.  The paint is from Life Colors US Army Olive Drab set.  The number is 222 on the paint bottle.  It is according to the instructions on the box for 50's and later.  Not being an expert in OD these looks right to the pictures I found on line.

This is going to be my recon company. From what I ready there are  three M41's in the company with approximately 20  Schützenpanzer SPz 11-2 Kurz.    If anyone has a better source please add it the comments
   Now for pictures.

I know I need to make a photo booth,  These are the best I can do right.  Hopefully the items I ordered from QRF will here soon.

Bundeswehr Schützenpanzer SPz 11-2 Kurz

It the late 50's until the early 80's the Bundeswehr  use a small APC SPz 11-2 Kurz.   The APC where used in the recon unit along side the M41's.   Just won a Roco Model on ebay.  It was suppose to be 1/100 scale. But I believe more like 1/87.   Also in the mail from the UK is one from QRF.

The Roco surprisingly has a lot of good details.  My units are progressing slowly.  The early cold War period I believe could be interesting period to game in.  Later on it is one shot one kill sort of game play..

15mm Modern Bundeswehr by Flytrap factory

Going through my facebook pages.  I fought this company out of New Zealand.   The company makes some amazing miniature of the modern Bundeswehr forces in the ISAF.  These would be a perfect fit for Yankee team.   Nothing like a German support unit to help you turn back the big Red bear..  They also have some Vietnam era NVA and  USN seals.

These fine figures can be found at their website.   The flytrap factory

M41A3 Bundeswehr for Cold War gaming

Okay having started my maddest for a 1950's to early 1970's Bundeswehr panzer force.  The first tanks will be the good old M41 by Battlefront.  This is from their Vietnam set.   What I like is that some of the commander have  berets.  Fits perfect for my needs as the German used berets.

The models are assembled. Next into the priming phase.   All need is to find the Bundeswehr organizational chart.

Yankee Team Bundeswehr

Currently I planning to do a Bundeswehr  Army for Yankee Team.  Also kicking around the idea of a early cold war army.   M41,M47 and M48s that the Bundeswehr used around the late 50s to mid 60's.  Figuring this would be an interesting period.  Why you say, because this before the high tech era of warfare.     The video shows the current Bundeswehr panzer division.

This link will take you to Panzerbaer: Panzerbaer info on the bundeswehr
On the site is lots of great pictures, modeling tips and info on all the vehicles used by the Bundeswehr.

Up date of M113 Vietnam and other vehicle decals

I contacted the owners of Mecdecal.   Suggested that he should make all the decal set in 15mm-1/100 scale. He replied the back that this was s great suggestion. And would be talking to his partner.  My suggestion is that if you want these email them at one of the address below..

Some of my friend are gaming in the Vietnam era.   Found this set of decals for Vietnam M113 but they are in 1/35 scale & 1/72 scale. Plus many more Vietnam era vehicles.  But maybe some one can reduce the size to 15mm scale.
Here is your chance to make some bad ass  vehicles.

Creating 6mm Highways for the Cold War area

Found this on my facebook page.   The group is called 6mm wargaming and terrain.  The group has a lot of nice tips for building terrain.   Below is a a two lane highway.   Simple and quick to build.

. The asphalt is just 320 grit sandpaper split in two, making each two lane about 19mm, which seemed fine. Based black, painted gray with a "wet drybrush" and finally a light gray on top of that. Fine sand glued on, drybrushed with cheap acrylics and finally some static and clump foliage added.

Now no excuses for not having nice roads on the battle field.

River wars WW1 rules book

Posting this for my good friend Anton.   This is your type of battles.   After yesterday great Dreadnought battle I figure you might like this rule set.

River Wars" covers naval engagements on the Danube and other European waters. The supplement includes a host of new rules covering mines and torpedoes, troops on shore, land based features and targets and the riverine environment.  Data tables are included for over thirty new ship and vessel types from the navies of the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Serbia, Romania and Turkey.

River Wars can be had for the price of $2.50 from Wargame Vault.  That is less the price of a gallon of gas or Bar Burger...

Two further supplements are envisaged, one covering riverine actions in the Russian Civil War, the other expanding the campaign settings in Africa.

Spartacon 2016

Check your 6  game

Spartacon was a lot of fun this year.  The game tables where packed with players.  Being slow to figure out what I wanted to play the tables fill fast.  I manage to get into a Check you 6 game.  Having the game for several years, I never played it.
The airwar game game can be very technical.  At the same time very realistic.  Tom who was the game master ran us through the basics and we where off.   Having picked P-47s I figured I would be able to do some damage.  But this is where the pilot rate makes or breaks you flight.  My pilots ended up being Zero and a plus1.  Zero equals green as grass rookie.   +1 pilot equals a guy with a few missions under his belt.  It didn't take long that my P 47 couldn't turn, but had some speed. Second fighting a +2 veteran and +3 ace.   I was pretty well toast.  But I did get a lucky engine hits on a +2 FW190.   Shortly after that the ace ... well you can figure out what happened to my flight.

P-51 +2 pilot hit.

Massive early desert war Italians vs the British.  The paint figures and armor are amazing.

A picture of the stat cards for the game.  Not sure of the rule set.

Massive ancients battled

Bolt action Pacfic war battle.  Lots of players yell Banzai later in the game
Now the large 28mm dreadnought battle.   The playing area was 60 feet by 40 feet.  Had a blast playing this battler.  It was the German Colonial fleet vs the French fleet.  Lots of surprises, drama and stress.   Being a german player we decide to attack the French cruiser.   The four ships race to attack the French Cruiser only to find out is was a battle ship.   How you say ?  When we got hit by 13 guns that out ranged us by 4 feet.    There will be a full account of the battler on Antons blog at a future date.  So won't give into the details.   But I can say the German where lucky to sink the French Battle ship
