The first-time players each took a 74 and the experienced players took the frigates (I ran the British 36). I slipped toward the French frigates in an effort to play-out the historical action...Bellona takes on Courageux and I take on the French frigates.
This happened, more or less, but not quite to plan or history. I gave the French frigates an opening to jump on Bellona if they wanted to. They did not. Instead we fought hard in the early going as the 74s were both a bit tentative to engage. Bellona ended up engaging the French frigates more so than planned and Courageux took a few shots at me in the middle rounds.
In the last few turns, the big ships got within pistol shot and had some nice broadsides. All frigates were rendered combat ineffective, Hermine ended the game at G, but disengaged to avoid striking. Both 74s lost sections, but had plenty of firepower ended. We needed to make time for lunch and the afternoon session, so we ended at 17 turns, but the 74s could certainly have carried on. First-time players enjoyed the game with Bellona's captain REALLY enjoying his first foray into CA.

GM Notes
- I did all the gunnery results, players figured gunnery numbers
- Players moved their own ships
- I did not use Phased Movement as I was pressed for time and had two first-time players
- No collisions (one successful bearing away by Bellona)
