Fat Dragon latest 3d print campaign Vallis Mortis.

Yes I'm a sucker for new kickstarter campaigns.  I still have to print out the American Civil War building from 3d Terrain.  Yesterday I jumped into a Wild West one. But I have the commercial rights to sell printed models.  Now I just need to sell some of my 3d printed building.  I also do commission work. If you are interested just post a comment.

Now for Fat Dragon latest campaign.  It looks real good.   Tom Tullis now has lamps, bonfires and a number items that can be lite up with a simple light emitting diode and battery.  His interlocking system is great.   If you tire of the building. You can take it a part tyo make a new one.

The campaign can be found here: Vallis Mortis kick starter.

3d printed medieval sailing ships

The ships are from 3d terrain, They were a part of the Medieval kickstarter campaign I didn't purchase. Currently I more file than I can print. The ships are 28mm scale.  These would be perfect for a crusader campaign.  Mark Armstrong is the maker of these ship. He mixed and matched parts to make the ship different, That is what is nice about 3d printing

Now for the eye candy.

Video on making wooden buildings

Jason video is a great teaching tool for creating weathered wooden building.  In video he talks about the paint colors he used.   This is great as most people forget to tell you the mix.  The building are from Carolina Craftsman's company.

Grenadier miniature by Ray Rubin

Found these photos on face book page called Old School gamers.  Talk about a flash back to my younger days in the late 70's and 80's.  I worked with Ray Rubin at the boom years at the Squadron shop.  Jerry Campbell and Walt  loncinski(King Plastic) .  Ray was working for Imrie/Risley a sculpter.   Walt got him to make a few figures for the Squadron Signal miniature series.  Campbell decided to sweet talk Ray into become the head Sculptor  Squadron Miniatures.   Turns oout Ray ws on sculptor.   Being from NYC Ray didn't have a drive license,  Like he said, why own a car when there taxi cabs.  Walt basically ended up taking care of Ray.  Once he got his license he could see Detroit...lol.   Ray and Walt became good buddies.  But Campbell was not the nice boss.  After a little while Ray figured out he got taken.    That is when Grenadier came about.  Ray loved painting exotic ladies and fantasy figures.

Bootloader for Ender3 Video

If you are a newbie with 3d printers like I am.  This video is my opinion the best one at explaining on how to load a bootloader in order to update the firmware on your printer.   My ender 3 is a joy to run. Except bed leveling.  The fix was the EZBAL from TH3D,  TH3D is a small company that specializes in 3d printer upgrades.    The kicker is that you have to modify the firmware yourself,  It can be a major.  Here is the solution to make it painless...

Barkskins The book, written by Annie Prouix

BARKSKINS - PROULX, ANNIE - NEW HARDCOVER BOOK ...

Be warned!  The books covers 300 yrs about the two main characters.  About the first couple hundred pages deal with the French and Indians.  If plan to buy the book I would give it from the library first.

Barkskins is a 2016 novel by American writer Annie Proulx. It tells the story of two immigrants to New France, René Sel and Charles Duquet, and of their descendants. It spans over 300 years and witnesses the deforestation of the New World from the arrival of Europeans into the contemporary era of global warming

The eponymous "barkskins" are indentured servants, transported from Paris slums to the wilds of New France in 1693, "... to clear the land, to subdue this evil wilderness," (p. 17) according to their master, a seigneur. The two men are contracted for three years of service to earn land of their own, but Charles Duquet runs away at the first opportunity, seeking to make a fortune for himself in the fur trade or by any means he can. René Sel, on the other hand, dutifully wields the axe clearing farmland for the master. Later, he is forced to marry the master’s cast off Mi’kmaq woman, Mari, a healer who gives him children. The Sel family heritage is thus Native American and working class.
Duquet, luckily surviving his escape through the wilderness, has a fortune to make, mostly on furs and lumber, and by swindling others whenever he can get away with it. Only then will he marry the daughter of a Dutch business partner, open an office in Boston, therefore Anglicizing the family name to Duke, and father or adopt the boys who will build the Duke & Sons timber empire after him.
All the while, for the Sel family, there is unceasing discontent. The young are always seeking their future as Native Americans in a whiteman's world. Indian lumbermen, for example, were always recruited for river work balancing on the longest logs rushing down a river where an awkward move could get a man crushed before he drowned

Barkskins lives now in miniatures. This Very Ground kick starter campaign

Talk about coming out at the right time.  Yes I'm addicted to Barkskins.  This is period that isn't covered very much.  Many of us will remember "The Last of Mohicans at was a great feature film released in 1992.   Also the 1936 movie with Randolph Scott.   When I was a kid in the late 50's there was a weekly TV show called "Hawkeye and Last of the Mohicans.

Back to the kickstarter.  Paul Hicks is doing the miniatures.  Not sure who is writing the rules.  When I find out more I will post about the rules.

GHQ Miniatures so far has survived the riot in Minneapolis

Just all hope that GHQ will be okay with all the destruction around them

As you may know, our factory is in the Uptown area of Minneapolis, Minnesota and is one of the areas hardest hit by riots and looting. Many of the things that you may have seen on TV are within blocks of our factory in Uptown. Many businesses around us have had very serious damage, some have even been completely burned down. We have gone in and checked on things every morning throughout the last week. Fortunately our building has not been hit hard, and has only got some graffiti. We boarded the building last week, and took out as many of our vital things as possible in the short amount of time.
We have taken steps to assure our employees' safety and the safekeeping of the business. For this reason we have not been operational for a week, and will not be able to start putting things back until next week. We ask for your patience, and understanding. We plan to get back to business as soon as we can.
Thank you!
GHQ
PS Please note that our mailing address is different from where everything is produced at our factory.

3d printed ASL counter storage

First of  all I didn't design this container.  Original these where for Command and Combat counters.  The only problem the container was designed for  5/8 inch square counter.   This works for the armor counters. Sadly not for the infantry counters.

So using a little bit of my high school math skills.  I determined that 80% reduction in size would work, Well damn if it didn't...   Now I bit of printing to do.

On the left is the storage box for armor.  The right side is for Infantry

If you look closely,  you can see the counters
