Bin Laden raid using Spectre OPS rules (Part1)

I started with project back early this July.  The building has been printed. The painting process was started. Only to be stopped by health issues. More than likely the my gaming group thinks I a slug.  Only this pass week before Christmas I got a good news on my health.   The only outstanding problem is the blood flow in my legs.  First week I January I will be a specialist who will fix that problem.

Now for the planned game.  Background on the raid. First the compound.  Location inside Pakistan. First problem was not to upset a shaky alliance with the ruling party.   Getting in and out of the country with Bin Laden.  Osprey has a great book on the raid.  Thanks to Pat who lent the book until I got my copy.  After reading the book, I found out that raid didn't go as planned.  During the raid a number of problems came up that almost cancelled the mission.  More later.

In future posts I will show the the 3d printed buildings.  Along with the miniatures. The biggest problem I have not been able to solve currently.  Is finding Dragons model kit of the sheath helicopter.

My Christmas gift to myself. Footsore Welsh army Kickstarter

Yes I do have a buying problem.  But it was my shiny new toy.  Plus it was a great deal. I have just completed mounting the Baron's war kickstarter from September.  Plus started to paint them.  Now I will have some mad welsh man to fight.

Baron's Wars by Footsore

I joined their kick starter group.  The Baron's War is to me at least an interesting period in British history.  At this time it was a bunch of royals fighting each other in the vacuum the Romans left behind. To me it is a blood period where the unfortunates were the meat in the sandwich so to speak.  Have a good Baron life is good.   Have a bastard greedy one life was pure hell. It was the time of Robin Hood and his merry band.   I guess Robin Hood is a leftover of childhood years. The weekly Sunday morning before Laurel & Hardy just after church.  This was a time were I could forget the hardship of growing up. You know the skinny kid with glasses.

Being a skirmish type of game is what attracted me.  In the late 80's there was small of us that played 40k, Warhammer, D&D and Cry Havoc.   Cry havoc was an interesting medieval game.  It was the first time I tried to convert a game to miniature.

Back to Baron's War.  Her is a link to a great sight for building a retinue. Warhost

Day in the life of Roman Auxiliary soldier

Found this video today.  A lot of good information on a Auxiliary Roman soldier. This puts a little more life into these troops.  They were expected to march 20 miles a day.

Bolt action tournament at Bastion Gaming center

A good friend of Anton's and mine put on a Bolt Action tournament at his shop.  Tom is the owner of Bastion Gaming center. Unknown to me he had a schedule a tournament. The only problem his wonderful shop is 62 miles one way for me.   Looks like everyone had a good time.
