Towing three armored wagons and a gun?
ReplyDeleteLow-end torque clearly wasn't an issue!
They where torque monsters. Didn't have a high speed. A whole whopping 20 BHP. This engine, Fowler No 8894, was fitted with 4.5 tons of armour plate; it already weighed 17.5 tons beforehand. Mirrors were fitted to give the driver a view down the left side of the boiler. Top speed 10 MPH. But most of the time the speed was lower.
