Digging out of the massive snow storm

 Living just outside of Detroit, Michigan we got a lot of snow over night.  It basically snowed for 24 ours straight.  Yesterday there are barely any snow on the ground.  This morning I woke up to this mess. In some area around my home the snow was about 2 Feet deep...  Yippee I hate winter.

The Arab Nations provided considerable reinforcements to Egypt and Syria during the 1973 War. However, the reinforcements arrived at different times during the conflict. Lt General Shazly rates them in order of effectiveness as follows: Iraq, Algeria, Libya, Jorda, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Kuwait, Tunisa. He pays special attention to the Iraq Hunter pilots operating on the Egyptian Front.
Algeria's three squadrons of aircraft arrived in Egypt between October the 9th - 11th, while the armoured brigade arrived on the 17th. While Libya's forces were in Egypt prior to the war beginning.

Following the 1967 war the Syrians began a large re-equipment program with modern Soviet equipment. This was increased, and supplemented by additional Soviet training, following the poor performance of Syrian forces during the 1970 fighting between Syria and Jordan.

Following the defeat of the 1967 War the Egyptian Armed Forces underwent considerable training and re-equipment. For example the 4th Armoured Division was completely re-equipped as well as the formation of a second armoured division. Several infantry divisions were mechanised and the number of infantry divisions were increased due to sweeping reforms.

Roman river Barge

 During my search on the Roman Patrol boat I found information on a trade barge. This one was recovered in Holland by a group of archeologist.  A group of historians have recreated the craft which gives tours on the river.  Here are some pictures that I found on google.  Hopefully someone might like to recreate a 28mm model of the craft. Plan to post pictures of my Victrix Romans shortly.  Just started assembling the Roman Allies for painting.

Roman Patrol Boat Pt 3

Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time searching the internet for more information on this boat. Here is what I found.  Hope you find this just as interesting as I did.

I'm currently trying to find a good side view with the section stations.  Once I have that I can construct the boat.  

While search I also found a Roman barrage that was used for trade. The barrage was found in Holland.  Based on what they found a recreation was made.  I wish I had know this while I was working in Germany.    Any information on this is great welcome.

Here is a drawing of the Patrol boat.  I plan to find a better one.  As the section doesnt agree with the construction picture.

If you live in Europe you and take a ride on this craft during the summer.  But be ready to row. The tour instruction tell you to bring water, ride gloves ( So you don't destroy your hands rowing the boat) and the correct clothing.

 It is a sad day as a great man and gamer designer pasted away.   I bought ASL when it came out in the 70's.  During this time I was in the Navy working the night shift.   It was slow a night just recovering P-3's the had been out on night mission.  My friend and played ASL during that time. The game was fun and the out come of the game could change in a minute.   Next was Johnny Reb I, II and III.  This lead me into gaming in 15mm. Plus Johnny Reb is a good  insight into the American Civil War.  The last purchased before Christmas was Across a deadly field.  I had planned to do a short review of the book.  Sad lost in the world of wargaming.

Need some help on the Roman boat

 I found this on the internet.  The boat is a patrol craft that the Romans used in Rhine area. It is a reproduction of the original.  Is there plans or drawing of this boat.  So far I have had no luck locating any drawings.. Any help will be great appreciated!

New ARV in 15mm from S & S Models

These are a welcome addition to the war gaming folks.  A couple of months ago I post the Shaun of  S & S models was going to make a T-55 bridge layer.  Looks like their are going release  a Sherman and Cromwell ARV.  Plus they are planning to make more 15mm conversion is the future.

Retired

 A week ago on friday I retired.  Being 66 it was time.  Plus I had grown tried of the B.S at GM.  Specially for contract designers..  Little does anyone know GM has made contract designer to unpaid days off or as they put it furlough day.  The company made record profits this quarter, but due to budget short fall they made take time off.  Note this didn't effect the direct or union people.  Being a second class worker I decided to retire.

So far my retire hasn't turned out like I wanted it to be.  Wednesday our refrigerator burnt up. Yes I could smell something burning.  The compressor failed.  A refrigerator set me back 1200 dollars.  Hope to catch up on my Romans and other project.  Plus may started selling off items the have collected dust for years...

Something different 1/48 FW-190A8

 My first love was building aircraft.   This year I rejoined the IPMS after not being a member for almost 30 years.  All the different paint schemes of German, American, and British aircraft is what drew into Plastic model Aircraft.  Today I thought maybe some of the people that follow my blog might like to see what I have done.  Painting hundreds of miniatures takes time. Making a model airplane can be relaxing. Plus a change of pace.

No pictures of my Roman Project. Why because damn flu has been beating me up pretty big the past two weeks. So tried of having a runny nose and death cough.

Battle front releases the M38 Jeep

Mine are on order from battle front.  I have been awaiting for some one to make these jeeps.  Used in the 60's and 70's by the US Army.   And the IDF with the recoiless rifle make a real nice vehicle killers. 

Also I got an email from Suan of S & S models. The T54 bridge is close to going into reproduction Now I need to purchase a few more T54s.. Stay tuned for updates

Praetorian Guards

These poor troops have been in the box of  neglect for over a year now.  All that was need was finishing some highlights.  Decal the shields..   Which as you already know is a real pain in the ass.  LBM decals are so beautiful. But the amount of work and care to it right is frustrating at best.    The stand is from Warbases in UK.  They are the nicest to people to deal with.  Any problem is quickly fixed at no cost to the buyer.

One day I hope to put my Roman troops on the table to do battle.  Keep an eye on my blog as the next phase is a Roman watch tower.  To be closely follow be a Roman Fort.    Next year I hope to retire. But one never knows what the future holds.  On to the pictures.

Looks like I waited a little to long for apply for the Challenge.  There is always next year.  At least I got a bunch of Romans primed to paint.  Along with getting them glued to their bases. 

Now back to finishing the ones that are almost finished.  Plus back to putting the shield decals on. That is a pain in the butt...lol

Analogue Hobbies Challenge

 Going to try to join the Challenge.  The challenge looks like fun.  This year I have painted a lot of miniature figures and armor.   Now I need to glue some figures together.  Still have 2 boxes of Roman Allies and a box Republican Romans.  Digging through a pile of unpainted and primed 28mm Germans.

I have finished my Middle period Warlords Romans.  Just need to post a picture of the complete legion...  Also on the bench is PSC company's late Pz III's and some Pumas from Forged in battle. Wish the challenge include some armor...lol
