Boer War Block houses for MWHBK Part 1

There is a upcoming campaign coming with the group I game with.  It is going to be VSF themed campaign.  Each country will have forts an economy. Plus raided each others territory for goodies.  I have been searching for proper period Forts.   It turns out that google is my friend.  During the second Boer war the British build around 400 fort across the territory.   From small squad size to full blown Forts.   This what I found.  Now I got figure out how to make them.

 As everyone knows you can't play any colonial or VSF with out great leaders.   Seam Connery, Peter O'Toole inspired in their roles in The man who would king.   It was a great movie in 1975 on the big screen.  Peachy Carnehan (Micheal Caine), Daniel "Danny" Dravot (Connery) and  the Gurkha soldier who goes by the name of Billy Fish (Saeed Jaffrey).

 I have to have these gentlemen in my forces.  Artizan made this possible with the set figures call Chaps who would be king,  My paypal account screamed not more bloody 28mm lead soldier... Lucky for Brigade Games had them in stock......  My finger hit the pay button.. Well the rest is history. If you want check the link.... Be warned  they are more VSF figures there.

Paint mix for the new British North west frontier miniature for Rafa

There has been an on going questions of what is the correct color of khaki. I had post on the Perry Brothers  facebook asking this questions.  Their respond was they didn't know.  One of the people on that facebook suggested to go to the painter blog. The painter is Rafa Archiuque.  I own his Painting War book on the Napoleonic French. Rafa was kind enough to get me is mix.

Stream tractor anyone for The Men who would kings.

On the face book page The Men who would be kings I found this.  Yes an Armor stream tractor that was used for the Boer Wars....   Maybe next month I will add this to my British forces..  Second Boer war could be very interesting.

My British Troops arrived from the Warstore.

This my troops for upcoming campaign arrived.   Warstore carries Perry Brother miniatures in stock. This is bad for me, why because it is just a order click away.  Also in the mail is a package from Brigade miniatures.  They carry Artizian miniature that I need.  As I paint these new Brits.  There will be an order for the Pulp Fiction and In her majesty service figures.    Below you will my new toys....  One does need the Black watch for any great battle...

After talking with Anton on the up coming campaign I picked the British. As that everyone had pick their or should I say from they last big campaign.   Need to order the new Perry British troops as a start.
 On the face book page  Anton Boot from the Netherlands inspired me with his army.

 I had pre-ordered these rules back in July.  They arrived in the post just before I left for vacation.  Basically I had a quick for at the rules.  In some ways the play is similar to Blood Eagle and Daisho.  These rules are what my current interest is in. Basically because I have the figures already purchased.

   I think these rules can be pushed into the Pulp fiction era.   So 1930 at the tops.  A little of Indiana Jones type of game play.   I your interested there is a Face Book page for the rule set.The Men who would be Kings

Daisho Samurai and more. Aly Morrison Citadel figures.

 Digging through my lead pile I discover my Japanese Samurai.    These poor figures have not seen the light day since about 1992.  Wow 24 years they lay hidden away in my Oriental D & D box.  Back then my children were in their teens.  Now 40 & 36!  We played Oriental D & D with a small group of friends.   It was an exciting group and good times.  But like most group the older player left for college. Only to be married, than move far away.  Some of my figures are painted. Others are in white primer....   I could hear them, " Lets start a new adventure" they whispered.   Warrior of Daisho are raising to battle again.

Roman Road found in a shop basement in perfect condition

Amazing to see an original Roman road in excellent condition.  Having always thought the road was very rough cut stones.   The show the road like a paved brick road.

Another year rolls by. Daisho rule set mini review

 Hard to believe I have lived for also 7 decades.  Saturday marked another year of my life gone by.  Hope to have more of miniatures painted before the next one. 

  Just got my copy of Daimyo Japanese skirmish rules.  Blood eagle should be arriving soon as I ordered it from Britain a couple of weeks ago.

 Daisho has a nice system for movement and battle.  Each player rolls for inaitive  the highest goes first.  This player moved one of figures of choice. After the figure is moved the next high score moves a figure. And so on.  Below is from the author.

 I bought this rule set about a year ago.  Along with "In her Majesty's name. Hoping to play these rules because they looked interesting.  Now I got hooked on Frostgrave.  It like being a drug addict.  Today I found these awesome buildings for fist full of Kung Fu.

The company name is Knights of dice.  The line is call simply China Town.  All I can say is WOW. The company is out of Australia

 Looks like I need to sell some of my stuff.  Also maybe I should of waited a couple months more before retiring.

Dom's decals to make 80's cold war decals for yankee team

The other day I wrote Dom to see if he was planning to make decal sets for the Yankee Team.  Specifically Bundeswehr  decals.   The answer was yes these are in the works  vehicle license, crosses and other related decals.   Plus other countries are in the works.  Dom just needs time to create the art work. Plus more research on the on what was used.   Looks like we have some nice decals in the future...

 

For all the Bolts action folks. Anti-aircraft machine guns.

Okay we all know multiple machine for anti aircraft defense.  Twin and triple mounts no be deal.  But  here are a couple of bad ass gun mounts.   These would be great for stopping an infantry attack.  Here is photograph proof that they did exist.  And it will drive the other players nuts...lol
