Hinterland Miniatures for the Victorian age and later.

This is the company I purchased my excellent Pom-Pom gun.   The period is 1909 for the miniatures.   These are all fighting ladies.   If your army needs some kick butt women Hinterland fill it perfectly.   All I have to say these are some tough ladies...

Colonial, VSF and more miniatures

After talking with Anton about Colonial miniature and VSF for the campaign. We decided to create a list of companies that make them.  Here is the second on the list.  Hinterland miniatures being the first.

Empress Miniature makes a great selection for the 1879 colonial era.  Beautiful figures do I need more figures?

Modern air combat rules

Just read on Jim Wargames workbench about Jim using the rules set "Target Locked On".  Looks like the rules are easy to play for modern aircraft.  CY6 is nice air combat game but sometime a little complicated.

Here is a Link to Jims blog:Jims Wargame work bench

Target Locked On! the rules can be found here: Wargames Vault  Currently the rule set is on sale for $7.99

Pictures of Stamsund today.

I did a google search on Stamsund Norway.   What I found was very interesting. In the photo section I found a group of pictures showing the fortifications that still are left over from WW2.  A museum with equipment, uniforms and article from the German occupation.   Plus a great website just of the forts and gun emplacements.  The map provide for the Operation is pretty close to the landscape pictured below.

Here are pictures of Japanese Wizard I plan to use in Daisho game.  It will be awhile before I get around to playing.  The figures are from Valiant miniatures are they bought the AEG miniature line. The sculpts are amazing so much detail.  Not sure if they are going to continue casting them. As Valiant is out of lot of the figures.

German forces for Commando raid

Here is the German defender for the town.  The faces need to be done.  Only thing is I hate doing faces.  These guys have been sitting in dark for 15 years. Couldn't find anyone interested in Bolt Action or later for Chain of Command.   Planning to finish the bases today

Operation Claymore Phase one

Operation Claymore was the code name for a British Commando raid on the Lofoten Islands in Norway during the Second World War. The Lofoten Islands were an important center for the production of fish oil and glycerine, used in the German war industry.   The landings were carried out on 4 march 1941, by the No 3 & No 4 Commando Royal Engineers Section and 52 men from the Royal Norwegian Navy. Supported by the 6th Destroyer Flotilla and two troop transports of the Royal Navy. The original plan was to avoid contact with the German Forces and inflict maximum damage to the German-controlled industry.

Phase one is to destroy the relay station before the main body of troops arrive.

WW2 RPG Operation White House.

A few weeks background I found this RPG game called Operation White House.   It turns out the game is basically D & D role player.  The difference is your playing WW2 Special Ops.  The party is 3 to 6 players.   You can be commandos, SAS, OSS, Paratroops or any small group action.

The character class are

Charmer  ( Basically a Bard)
Tactician\ ( Brains of the Operation)
Combat engineer (The person that likes to blow things up)
Sniper
Grunt

Plus a couple of other classes I won't go into.   Planning to have our groups first game on the 4th of Feb.  The operation is a raid into Norway.   This was the first big commando raid into Norway.  Been digging through my figures.  I have most of them.

RPG and Miniature gaming bar in Austin, TX

If you live in the Austin,TX this could be for you.  Here is their intro.

Vigilante is an audacious, excellence-driven board game bar especially designed for the modern, grown-up nerd (we think that’s a compliment). We are an unabashedly welcoming place for people who enjoy quality beer, board games, and great company whether you’re a casual observer or a die-hard fan of nerd-dom. Our goal is to serve as a home away from home (with a far better beer selection and a craft kitchen) where people can return again and again to play their favorite games, hang out with friends and make new ones. Everyone is welcome, and everyone’s a Vigilante.

28mm Roman Quinqreme

For years I have been kicking around making a Roman Quinqreme for my roman marines.  To my surprise Advance Miniatures Studios from Australia makes one.  The vessel is made out of MDF. Looks easy to assemble.  I have added the assembly video.

Dungeon Saga Got suck in

Well I broke down, bought the game.  The miniatures are amazing the box is full of goodies. The game play is straight forward play.   The next in the the series is the companion box...   Oh my this is going to be like crack.  This second box allows solo play, adds more to the character.  Like in D & D and Pathfinder you can specialize your character.   Well I can go on an on. It is easier to watch the video.   Caution this could make you spend your hard earn cash......
