Easy Eight M-16-1 Hit/Damage chart.

Found one chart I missed.   M16 was an Anti-Aircraft half track.  That turned out to be devastating to infantry targets.

Gettysburg 1978 using Stars and Bars

This morning I woke up to realize it has been 40years since the group played Gettysburg. The group at that time consisted of John Thull, Bob Krause, Bob Webb, Bill Parrish, Len Jellnick and myself.  At that time frame Scotty Bowden "Stars and Bars" was the rule set for miniature Civil War.

 The idea of the playing the game was Bob Webb's idea.   Bob wanted to do an epic battle. It was agreed that each of us would provide the require Army Corp for the battle.  The only person who had room for the table was Len as his basement didn't have any stuff in it.  We built the table in at his house.  At took up the whole basement.  The sad part we never took a picture. Unlike today with your cell phone it is just a quick snap.   We had cameras with film, OMG...lol  

It was decided to play on the weekend of real battle.  4th of Jul 1978.   The group figure we could play the game in a weekend.  Little did we know it would be sometime in November of 1978 we would finish the battle.  Let me explain, Stars and Bars is very slow and accurate to the style of fighting.   The game table took two weekends to build.   Next came place the figures on it.  Well to our surprise we did not figure in the weight of the miniatures..  The table started to collapse. This put a quick stop on the play.  We had to have several thousand miniatures spread across the game table. 

When the epic battle began it became apparent this was going to be a very long game.  We sweated through part of the first day of the battle in 3 days that hot July in Len's basement.  This was the opening stages of the battle.  Once we got into the heavy fighting it would take several hours just to move, fight and resolve the results.   But it was fun. A great time with good friends at that time period.  The only person I still see is my Buddy John.  The rest of the group faded away.

When the battle end it was a victory for the Union.  The turning point was Pickett's charge.  Bob Webb came within  a dice roll of breaking the Union line.   I'm going to be 70 this year.  The summer of 1978 was one of my best years in my life.   Happy 4th of July folks.

Lock and Load new core rule 5.0

Lock and load is going to release their latest Core rule.  According to what I heard is that a lot of corrections and updates to make the game easy to understand.

My miniature gaming started here.

A trip down memory lane in the world of  gaming.  Do you remember what store or shop got you started life long pursuit of spending your hard earned dollars.    I do here it is.  The building was once the Alcove Hobby Shop.  The Mecca for miniatures gamer's in Detroit.  On it is a print shop. If the walls could talk. One could still heard if you listen closely the many famous tales of battle

 MICHIGAN'S GAMING HERITAGE: This is the former location of the store that was the hub of most all gaming in the tri-county area. ALCOVE HOBBY STORE. Located on 12 Mile Road in Berkley, it was run by Bob & Joyce Boyle. This store was the place that introduced most of us to gaming and was the hub of the gaming community (in addition to the gaming centers). The store was very successful, and eventually the Boyles started an entire distributorship (Greenfield Hobbies) and the store would move to Woodward between 12 & 13 mile road, next to everybody's favorite Thai restaurant, Siam Spicy. They would eventually sell the store to a couple guys who, unfortunately ran it into the ground.

Pikeman Lament with real pictures.

Have not played Pikeman Lament in long time.  Just finished up my dragoons.  Cavalry is a real pain in butt to paint.  Been pushing these troops around on the painting bench for who knows how long.  Agin in my travel on face book I found this great page dealing with the English Civil War.  The thing the grab me was the detail of the reenactors uniforms.  To myself it looks like the armor pieces have a black paint wash.

This photo shows how big the Maus was.  The Tiger turret on top looks like toy.  What is interesting if that there are two Maus turrets.  This would make one believe the Hitler had put the Maus into full production.  Hope you like the photo.

White Dragon Miniature

White dragon Miniatures is out of the U.K.    They specialize in resin figures and terrain.  Some really amazing stuff.  They have a line 28mm British troops that fought in the Falklands.  But the items I like are the modern terrain feature that are made for Spector.  Talking some finely detailed building.    Here is the link to their website.  White Dragon Miniatures
