Flashback to summer of 1969 in Chu Lai

Summer of 69 I was still on my first tour to Vietnam.  I found these pictures on a facebook page.  Well talk about bring back memories.  These pictures had been take by a Marine from VMA212.  The picture will show the USAF and Marines trying to take out a V.C. launch site in the nearby mountains. The V.C.  had build this pit in a way that artillery could not hit it.  So for three day they sent packages of love to us in the form of B-122 rockets.   From this launch pit they could hit pretty well very area on Chu Lai.  They hit the chow hall, PX, Hooch's we lived in.  The airfield got most of the fire.  The Marines got pissed and sent in fighters with massive loads of napalm.  That did it.  According to the troops that got to the site.  The napalm had sucked out all the air or used it up for the fire.  That the VC where are killed.    Thus was all before I turned 21.   The pictures are faded, but you would be to after all these years...
