These past three weeks have been tough. I lost 5 good friends. Three to cancer and two were lost to major stroke. I'm not a young man anymore. My 66th birthday is only a few months away.
It has been a hard struggle to paint figures for the up coming battle. But have managed to finish up about 10 regiment of cavalry. Plus some artillery battery's. Need to make more buildings also. I've lost the push because the wind has been taken out of my sails so to speak.
My plan is to post some more pictures. It could be a week or so.
Hold your good friends close. Cherish their friendship and memory of good times.

Polish Foot artillery for project Leipzig
Just finished the foot artillery. The bases are 1.75 x 1.75 inches. Had planned to make smaller ones but I could not fit all the pieces on without make unit look cramped. It took a 5 days of painting the figures for the batteries. At the same time I was painting the Horse artillery units. Those have to be mounted still.
The bases are painted green first. Next I added the Foot gunners. Added green flock with some gravel. The bases still need some additional static grass. Again I am press for time to finish all my units by the 5th of July...

Project Leipzig buildings
Last weekend I was busy assembling buildings. Most are 4ground laser cut MDF building. Earlier in the year I won an eBay auction for a church, two story painted building and a 4 story apartment building. The Russian houses I purchased off the net from Noble Knight. Noble Knight sometimes has some great sale. Plus Dzur's eBay store, which has some greatly reduced price sales.
The church itself took a couple of days to do. Sections have to be glued and set over night before more pieces can be added. Now I some building for the battle. The wooden Russian homes are not as easy. Mostly because of the next interior walls. At one point I felt like a needed an octopus to hold all the side together. At a later day I plan to make bases for the Russian homes. Enjoy!
Mdf laser cut building are great. Assembly quickly with very little headaches. Next I have to assembly my paper buildings. I hope there is enough time to finish them also.

WW2 rules sets
Today while reading Itinerant Hobbyist post I came across his post on "Nuts final edition". Owning a early version I have been thinking about buy the latest edition. No can never have enough rules set...
In the post he mentions Sixtwentyeight's blog. Clicking on the link how-not-to-make-friends-and-upset
I found a excellent review of WW2 rules. I recommend if your budget is tight for buying new rule read his review.. The review could save you a few dollars.
Looks like I will be ordering the rules shortly..

100th Post on my Blog. Fresh off the painting table
Just about finsihed up. The Grenz and Landwehr need their muskets finished up. But first a coat of the Testor flat finish needs to be sprayed on. The trooper where replaced by a large pile of Austrian Cavalry. Next this pile is a 86 Polish Infantry. Next up will be the Polish Cavalry. Hope I can get them all finished in time. Need to start the buildings soon.
The picture didnt come out as well I would of liked. The gloss makes the photos of the figures not the best. It a distance they are not bad...

My 28mm Roman Fort came today.
Just before the Leipzig project got kicked off. I purchased a 28mm Roman Fort from Acheson Creations. There was a few issues on the delivery being very late. But it was all solved by instant messaging the Owners on their face book page. It turned out the molds for the Fort had to be made. With the that information I have no problem waiting a little longer. The Wooden Gateway should be coming next week, that is one of the molds that need recasting..
Acheson creations
That a look at they products both in 15mm and 28mm. This weekend I plan to post pictures of my Fort.. When time permits I hope to paint them and add terrain bits to the Fort... Check out the pictures below from Acheson Creations.

Polish Division for Leipzig.
Currently working on the Polish division. I already have a corp with my older figures. In the process of updating them. Ordered some cavalry. But need to order artillery. Since the group is using smaller base 1 inch vs 1.5 inches. Just placed an order for 200 1 x .5 bases. They should be here in a couple of weeks. Would of ordered the bases from War bases in England, but problem is the hit or miss Postal service of both nations....

Russian Dragoons (Battle honours figure) Project Leipzig
I acquired this Battle front figures off TMP a couple years back. One of the folks on the site wanted to get rid of his collection of unpainted Russians and Austrians. These figures make my old heritage Napoleonic's look like dwarves... The trumpeter needs to be painted. Plus the command staff is painted but not place on their horses. Hope you like them. Please note their not finished be painted.
French Hussars for Project Leipzig
Two Regiments of French Hussars are painted. But not all mounted yet. Need to cut some more stands out of styrene. The regiments are the 7th and 8th Hussars. The figure count for a regiment is 8 figures
Pictures of the regiments.

More on my project
Having just finished a regiment of Russian dragoons I come to realize the can't paint as fast as I once did. These fingers are old stiff and hurt. Just hold the figures in my hand to paint hurts. Currently the plan is to paint what is primed. That is why my only Russian cavalry unit was painted.
The plan was to paint my primed Austrian I bought off a guy on TMP. Well primed figures where a mess. They ended up in a jar of simple green soap. Talk about a great why to remove paint. After two days of soaking the primer was brushed off with a tooth brush. All figures where clean in hot water. Now in the next day of so I will prime them. Being Austrians the plan to is spray paint them with Tamiya Flat white paint. Put a blue grey wash on them to bring out the details.
I hope I can get them painted by July, really not sure if I can do it. On the bench is my IDF that's needs to finished. A 1/48 T28B Trojan trainer aircraft I need to get done for a IPMS contest in May.. One thing for sure it sucks getting old...
